"Can't cut enough" concerns of state budgets

Carol Forsloff - Cory Booker, according to the Huffington Post, expresses the dilemma many Mayors across the country are facing.  They aren't able to cut the budgets enough to make up shortfalls, and with the latest tax compromise folks wonder what the future might be.

This dilemma is not having enough money.  In Oregon and in other places around the country, the problems have even involved the schools, with staff reduced in hours and program cuts made as well.  In Louisiana that has also been the case.  Adult education was hit hardest.

In Texas prison crowding and the tendency to put more and more people in jail because of concerns about crime has brought problems as well.  There isn't enough money to appropriately house people who the law declares should be incarcerated.  So one blogger asks, is it grits for breakfast?

The problem trickles down to small towns as well.  Seniors, unable to sell their homes, are forced to remain in the towns where they live when they can't join families who can care for them.  This puts a strain on the resources in local communities.

The answers come from individual executives at various levels, while folks wonder what these complications might bring by way of the future of the root of the culture, in education, social services and health.
