Media alert to parents on recall of baby carriers

The Department of Consumer Protection announced Monday it is alerting consumers about the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s voluntary recall of CYBEX 2.GO infant carriers.

These carriers were sold at baby furniture and baby product stores nationwide, and on various websites, during the period August 2009 through April 2010 for about $100. A shoulder strap slider buckle can break, posing a fall hazard to babies.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Regal Lager Inc., of Kennesaw, Ga. today announced the voluntary recall. Consumers should stop using the carriers immediately and contact Regal Lager to receive a free replacement carrier.

About 2,700 of the carriers were sold in the United States, and the company has received three reports of broken buckles. No injuries have been reported.

Manufactured in China, the carriers have “CYBEX” embroidered on the fabric covering on the top of the head support. “2.GO” is printed on an orange tag near the head support. The carriers were sold in the following colors: chili, indigo, purple and slate.

It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

The Department of Consumer Protection provides regular updates through the press concerning product recalls.  This is considered important enough to be provided the media to be provided to the general public.
