Placebos + talk can create sexual satisfaction for women

Carol Forsloff - Perhaps sex is all in the head after all, if researchers are right, in that placebos have been shown to increase sexual satisfaction for women along with good communication with a therapist like Dr. Drew.

.

A psychological research study from The University of Texas at Austin and Baylor College of Medicine.  found women with low sex drives achieved sexual satisffaction after taking a placebo.

The placebo given to women helped to facilitate communication about sex problems, and it was the communication researchers found made the difference.  Most of the improvement came after the first four weeks and was measured by women's report of satisfying sexual experiences.  The findings are available online in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

"The findings from our study show how a woman's expectations to improve sexually can have a substantial positive effect on her sexual well-being without any actual drug treatment,"  said Cindy Meston, head researcher on the study at the University of Texas. "Expecting to get better and trying to find a solution to a sexual problem by participating in a study seems to make couples feel closer, communicate more and even act differently towards each other during sexual encounters."
