Song 'I Believe' calls attention to infertility of U.S. couples

LAS VEGAS
- Carol Forsloff - Songs are sometimes written to advocate a position, a social concern,
or an issue significant to the composer, as in the case of infertility
with a song called "I Believe" to call attention to a dilemma that impacts
10% of all U.S. couples.

The
song, entitled "I Believe," calls attention to infertility and the
struggles faced by couples who want to have children.  Itwas co-written
and produced by
Darren Sher, son of SIRM Founder and Executive Director
Dr. Geoffrey Sher , MD who heads up the Sher Institute for Reproductive Medicine.
The
song is about the issue, but it is also about a son's admiration for
his father's work.  The elder Sher has been treating infertility
patients for almost three decades.  Darren, who wrote the song I
Believe, has admired his father's dedication to helping couples reach
their dream of parenthood.

Now
an accomplished musician and producer, Darren recognized the inherent
compelling drama in the patients' experiences and discussed with his
father the concept of a theme song that would serve as both a tribute
and an inspiration to infertile couples everywhere.

"I Believe," sung by musicians Steve Carlson, who co-wrote the song with Darren, and Rosalee, Darren's wife,
poetically articulates the hopes and dreams of infertility patients as
well as their courage and determination.  It was written to honor those
that have worked so hard to build a family.  The video features real
infertility patients and their families.

"Through
the years I would often come home and discuss with my son Darren the
personal struggles I witnessed.  He understands the emotions involved
with Infertility and has also seen the resulting happiness these
families achieve through treatments," said Dr. Sher.  "But, the lyrics
are applicable to any life situation – it is a truly moving song and our
patients have expressed that it captures the essence of the journey."

The song can be downloaded here at "I Believe"  and can also be found on YouTube

The
title " I Believe, "used for the song about infertility, is one that has
been used by others.  A well-known version is on YouTube:  Fantasia
Barrino's singing I Believe, a different song with the same name on
American Idol, which became a testimony to an unwed mother's dream of
becoming a nationally-known singer.  There is also the song  "I Believe"
that came out of the 1950's, which narrates the belief people have in
God.

The
new song for infertile couples tells a different story, but is still a
song of of love and of promises fulfilled by faith and hope, the themes
immortalized by many, this time for couples wanting children and looking
for help in the process.
