NWF: “Americans want more clean energy action and less Big Oil scaretactics”

NWF - GHN News Editor - In a statement given by the National Wildlife Federation in response to the recent election, the organization points out that the public wants environmental protection and that the old days of hands off might be gone.

The statement by Larry Schweiger, President and CEO of National Wildlife Federation, underlines what his organization believes is of paramount importance for new legislators to remember in dealing with energy and the environment:

“There will be many new faces in Congress next year, but voters overwhelmingly want the next Congress to find bi-partisan solutions that invest in clean energy sources, reduce harmful carbon pollution and end subsidies for Big Oil companies.”
“Americans want more clean energy action and less Big Oil scare tactics, and candidates who stand with Big Oil are out of touch with their electorate.

“In California, the world’s eighth-largest economy, early indications are that the voter backlash against Big Oil’s campaign spending is sending a message that there are great perils to siding with polluters.”
