Are Christian churches causing America's downfall as claimed?

PR Log - GHN Editor - Houston, Tx -"Evil exists, and the only people who can overcome it are knowledgeable,
spiritual Christians. Unfortunately, most Christians are not,"begins an
author's condemnation of the Christian churches.

A writer by the name of Jack Heckathorne, who refers to himself as a "Christian author," asks: Are Christian churches causing America's downfall?  But is he correct, have the background for critique and provide specifics on how this is occurring?

Jack Heckathorne produces a press release and website to promote a
thesis question:  Is the church causing America's fall?  But let's see
if the information presented addresses specifics.

The question is not answered in the press release, but there are plenty
of Bible quotes as teasers.  “For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high
places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

“And these are they by the way side, where the word (Bible Doctrine) is
sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh
away the word that was sown in their hearts.” (Mark 4:15)

What Heckathorne tells us is, "virtually all major denominations and
religions are teaching things that are totally contrary to the Bible. In
addition, they are not teaching many of the life changing concepts
which are found in scripture. They mix in enough truth as to make their
ideas and psychology sound plausible but the messages on key points are
totally opposite of God’s word therefore, whole biblical concepts are
lost."

With that the author leads us to the rest of the article.  But at the
outset we are to assume that Heckathorne has the right answers in
interpreting the meaning of scripture sufficient to judge whether the
churches teachings in the modern world specifically oriented towards
destroying America.

Is this just another right-wing, born-again essay or a legitimate study of faith?

The rest of the article provides some more of
Heckathorne's notions.  First of all, he supports the idea espoused by
Terry Larkin that President Obama is not an American and is therefore
ineligible to serve as President of the United States.  As the founder
of what is described as the Global Jesus Christ Network, Heckathorne
says, "I'm not an activist by nature. However Terry Lakin is doing his duty to protect this country.  Please support his efforts as the case will effect all Americans! "

And what is Lakin's efforts directed towards?  Lakin is a Lt. Colonel
who refuses to be deployed to Afghanistan because he maintains Obama won't release his birth certificate.  He is supported by the
American Patriot Foundation.  This is in spite of the fact the Governor
of Hawaii, Linda Lingle a Republican, the Honolulu Advertiser, Hawaii's
best-known and most-read newspaper, and the hospital where he was born
support Obama's birth as in Hawaii and have provided copies of the birth
certificate.

The rest of the "newspaper" is highlighted by these "breaking news" headlines:

  • New Website! GodlyDesktop wallpapers

  • Israel Reborn - The Beginning of the End Times

  • New Website: GBCVideos.org

  • Walmart to imbed RFID tags on Clothes Beginning August 1st 2010

  • New Website: ChristianStumblers.com

The image header shows an arm with a fist and two people standing at
attention, one a young woman with a salute with arm raised in
quasi-militaristic fashion.

Nowhere are there specific, detailed, scholarly citations that respond
to the press release specifics that the Christian churches are
destroying America.

The website professes to be among the top 100 Christian websites at the present time.

There is no contact information visible with links to Heckathorne and no
description, commentary, or resume details that provide evidence he is either a trained
journalist or Christian scholar with formal training in the precepts of
the Christian churches.  Nor is there any evidence of a survey of
churches and practices nationwide to support the claims made about the churches destroying America and not teaching Bible information.

Heckathorne claims his website was #2 in Christian site rankings.  But
one doesn't know whether these visitors arrived to agree or disagree
with his remarks.
