PR 24-7 - GHN - As more and more women struggle to look young and lovely in the love
market, there are more and more breast enhancements they can choose, but
how is that done?
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reports that almost
347,000 women had breast augmentation surgery and another 87,000 chose
breast lift surgery annually. Like many of these women you may find
yourself choosing between these two procedures, or choosing both.
So, what do you need to know about breast lift vs. breast augmentation
to make your decision? One plastic surgeon named Michael Ciaravino
tells us each has unique goals, and the procedures are often combined to
achieve an even more attractive curvature.
First what are the goals of breast lift surgery? This type of breast
augmentation, or maybe "rearrangement" might be a better word, is
designed to elevate drooping breasts and restore their youthful, perky
stature. Gravity, pregnancy and weight gain have a way of stretching
even smaller breasts over time. Weight loss may leave breasts less firm
and a bit saggy. Breast lift surgery involves elevating the nipples and tightening the breast skin to restore breasts to an attractive shape.
The goal of breast augmentation surgery is to make breasts larger or
fuller. Women differ so vastly in shape, size and frame that a number of
options have been developed that offer something for everyone.
Here are some of the varieties according to plastic surgeons:
- Silicone gel or saline implants.
- Implant placement behind the breast tissue or behind the pectoral muscle.
- Various shapes and sizes of implants.
Sometimes a woman will choose a lift and breast augmentation
When a breast lift simply is not enough to restore a lovely, youthful
shape, a breast augmentation is combined with the lift procedure to
complete the transformation. The lift removes the excess skin and
reduces sagging. The implant fills the remaining breast skin adding
contour and fullness where minimal breast tissue is insufficient.
What kind of outcome should a woman expect?
Plastic surgeons say to look for techniques that result in:
- Tiny incisions.
- No sutures to remove.
- Specialized instruments for accurate implant placement and minimal swelling.
- No bruising.
- Gentler breast implant recovery.
- Shorter healing periods.
- Less complicated recoveries (e.g., no drains or wraps to manage).
Some surgeons use certain breast enhancement surgical techniques
that make the difference between a spectacular breast surgery outcome
and a mediocre one. They use the most current measurement techniques
such as 3-D breast imaging that gives an accurate picture of how each option will change your appearance, taking much of the guesswork out of planning.
And the result? Well, as Ciaravino says, "Gone are the days of wearing a
rice-packet-stuffed bra for several days to decide what size you would
like to be."
