New York rally scheduled on behalf of 2100 Myanmar political prisoners





PRN - GHN News Editor - Aung San Suu Kyi has been released from Myanmar, while human
rights organizations applaud this action all over the world.  Even
President Barack Obama responded how happy he is to see her freed, but
there are more than 2,100 prisoners remaining in Myanmar.


There is a rally tonight for the other political prisoners.  It is being held in Union Square Park.

Amnesty International is calling for international support in the effort
to get the "immediate and unconditional release of  political prisoners
in Myanmar." Activists will be participating in a demonstration and
film screening at Union Square Park at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, November
13  to raise awareness of the more than 2,100 political prisoners in Myanmar.

Aung San Suu Kyi is a Nobel Peace Prize
Laureate.  She has been working on behalf of a free and fair
government.  Activitists ask that political prisoners be released
immediately before the election.


In advance of the scheduled protest, , Amnesty International states: "Amnesty International welcomes the release of Aung San Suu Kyi, but
calls on the government of Myanmar to immediately release all of the
prisoners of conscience in the country."
